Our take
Chatfuel is the answer if all you need is a DM sent to everyone who comments a keyword. Its Instagram comment-autoreply page calls the feature free, with no limit on contacts or messages, so it costs nothing at 1,000 or at 10,000 contacts. The free plan also answers comments on Facebook and TikTok.
Paying unlocks the rest of the platform rather than a bigger audience. Business at $20 a month adds AI replies and a team inbox. It also includes a CRM, and contacts and teammates are unlimited. The bill stays the same when a post goes viral.
Two costs are easy to miss. AI replies draw on a monthly credit wallet worth the plan price, and when it runs out the bot pauses until you top up, renew or connect your own OpenAI key. Business also covers one bot, so a second brand means an Agency plan from $100 a month.
Selling in the chat is the weak spot. Chatfuel’s help center says payment processors such as Stripe and PayPal cannot be connected, although one line in its pricing FAQ suggests otherwise. Its help center also rules out follow-to-DM. If you take orders in DMs, the comparison with SendPulse and the Chatfuel alternatives cover tools with payment buttons.

Free plan. Free plan covers comment replies on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok with no AI credits. The vendor's Instagram comment-autoreply landing page states unlimited contacts and DMs, no credit card. Full platform (Fuely AI, WhatsApp, inbox, CRM) requires the Business plan.
Trial. 7-day free trial of the full product with $15 in credits, no credit card required.
The 1,000 and 10,000 contact figures use the cheapest plan that includes comment-to-DM, on monthly billing. The method is on how we compare.

Fuely AI replies are paid from a per-plan credit wallet ($20/month on Business, $100 on Agency). Unused credits expire monthly and auto top-up refills from the card. A fair-use AI allowance applies and the bot pauses when exceeded unless the plan is renewed or the customer supplies their own OpenAI API key (then billed by OpenAI directly). Keyword replies, button flows and broadcasts do not consume AI usage.

Strengths and limits
Where it is strong
- Instagram comment autoreply with keyword rules (up to 30 custom rules per source, 50 keywords per rule), public and/or private replies, post lists and ad comments is available on the free tier with no stated contact cap.
- Flat subscription with unlimited contacts and teammates: Business is $20/mo monthly or $18/mo yearly, so cost does not rise with 1k vs 10k contacts.
- Vendor-stated Official Meta Partner and WhatsApp Business Solution Provider, with a GraphQL public API and Zapier integration.
- Help center explicitly documents Meta constraints (no follow-event DM, Instagram messaging limits), which reduces surprises.
Where it falls short
- No in-chat payment gateway: the help center states Stripe, PayPal or other processors cannot be connected. Payment is handled via AI receipt verification, contradicting the pricing-page FAQ that mentions Stripe.
- AI replies are metered through a credit wallet with fair-use limits. The bot pauses when the allowance is exhausted until renewal, top-up or a customer-supplied OpenAI key.
- Business plan includes only 1 bot. Multiple brands need an Agency tier ($90-$100/mo and up), and tier naming differs between the pricing page and help center.
- Follow-to-DM is not available (Meta does not expose a follower event). Trustpilot shows 3.2 from 14 reviews.
Skip it if you need native checkout or payment buttons inside Instagram DMs. Or if you want a follow-to-DM welcome automation. Or if you run several brands or client accounts and want them on a single low-cost plan (Business is limited to 1 bot).
